Aluminium

Pure aluminum is very rare and rarely found in nature. Aluminum compounds can be found in nature in various sources such as igneous and sedimentary rocks. But the most common ore from which aluminum can be produced affordabely and economically is bauxite. Bauxite is a mixture of aluminum hydroxide, iron hydroxide or oxide, titanium oxide, aluminum silicates, kaolin and a small amount of the other ingredients. Total global reserves of bauxite is about 33 billion tons which about 75 percent of it is located at 5 countries including Guinea, Australia, Brazil, Jamaica and India. In Iran, there are bauxite mines in North Khorasan, Semnan, Yazd, Kerman and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad provinces. After extraction, bauxite ​will be transferred to alumina refinery and during the processing operations, alumina will be obtained.

Aluminum metal compounds 8% of the Earth's crust and after oxygen and silicon are in abundance. 1886 began the development of aluminum industry and was in this year that mass production of the metal oxide electrolysis of alumina in molten cryolite took place and this method is also continuing. Aluminum has a specific gravity of 7.2 and a high electrical and thermal conductivity and resistance to nitric acid and organic acids, have numerous applications in various industries and is of great importance. Aluminum has a melting point of 660 ° C and also very good formability. On the other hand, if the metal is exposed to the air, where a thin layer of aluminum oxide on the other it protects the metal against corrosion. It's known as one of the most important characteristics of the metal and its application in various industries will be further expanded.
It's light weight also makes extensive use of aluminum alloys in aircraft industry is metal. In the shipbuilding industry, aluminum alloy in steel structure building high in the ship and rig building and smokestack used and lightness of this section's point downwards is gravity and increase stability. The aluminum alloy in the manufacture of internal combustion engines used for light and heat as well as proper guidance.
